V-Day at Ruby Tuesday

Valentine's Day was spent working, in class, and more working until 5. Then I had taichi class in the evening so me and my love spent a Valentine's weekend cuddling instead. Being in college (read: no car = nowhere to go), we did the only thing we really could do to find a nice place for dinner: went to the mall by bus. Our mall is fairly small with a small selection of good tasting food.

After much time just thinking of whatever cheaper options we had, I went with Ruby Tuesday. This was the first time going in a long time for me and my boyfriend had never been to before. We spent a long time perusing the menu until we finally decided on a shrimp sampler appetizer to start. It was delicious with simple fried shrimp in three different flavors: plain without sauce, Asian-glaze, and Cajun-glaze. The appetizer was probably the best part of our meal.

I ordered a grilled salmon with cheesy mashed potatoes and broccoli. My boyfriend ordered New Orleans Seafood which was really only a decorated cut of tilapia with some parmesan shrimp on top, also with two sides. I wasn't fond that they only offered biscuits on request and that our waitress did not make that clear from
the start. Each entrée was supposed to come with two and she only brought out two for the both of us to share. Not to mention, they were quite small. However, the taste was decent (but nothing could compare to my favorite biscuits at Red Lobster!). We ended up calling for an apple fizz cider or something to round everything out, but most of the flavor was lost in the bubbly.

Overall, it was a decent, albeit pricey meal for a pair of college students. Ruby Tuesday is still lower on my standings than most mall-type restaurants.
